Last week, while speaking in Lisbon, Portugal, Pope Francis spoke about the great need to recover the “Prayer of Adoration”, or quiet prayer before Our Lord, either while He reposes in the tabernacle or is exposed in Exposition on the altar.

“I would like to ask a question here, but each one should answer it interiorly. How do I pray? Like a parrot — blah blah blah blah blah? Or taking a nap in front of the tabernacle because I don’t know how to talk to the Lord? I pray? How do I pray? Only in adoration, only before the Lord can the taste and passion for evangelization be recovered.” He said to a large group.

As a child, my mother often would say: “Let’s go have a visit with Jesus,” and we could easily find a church nearby that was open. It was just a natural part of a day’s outing for us.
The problem is, these days it can be hard to find places where the church building is open or Exposition is available. We no longer have open church buildings everywhere, and unless you know your own parish’s Exposition schedule, it can be difficult to just drop in and visit with Jesus.
We have tried to help you with this little problem. Under our Prayer Tab we have listed, by county, then by day of the week, the adoration and exposition schedule for every parish in the diocese. If you are on a smartphone, tap the menu and then pick out your preferred county.
Let’s make visiting Jesus a habit again!
I love the idea of having a visit with Jesus. He is always home, will always open the door, and will always welcome you in with open arms. He is waiting for you to come by.
